The Conservancy was formed in 1985 to help guide the periodic restoration and regular maintenance of the Park.  This goal of this web site is to provide history of the Park, resent restoration projects and general information.  The Conservancy Board of Directors has provided detailed plans of improvements and restoration projects that can be viewed on this site.

The menu bar on the left  side of this page will help you navigate through the many pictures, postcards, few older maps, monuments and statues.

Because of the guidance and resources provided by the Conservancy and the City of Albany administration, Park visitors will find many major improvements, lighting, Knox Street Mall restoration, many paths have been restored, drainage work, including cobble swales, and of course constant planting/replacement of trees and shrubs.  Restoration work on the many of the historical flowers beds and garden areas.

Washington Park is home to the Annual Tulip Festival, Park Playhouse (summer theater), Latin Festival, Capitol Holiday Lights (sponsored by the P.A.L., the Police Athletic League), and many local charities use the Park facilities as a fund raising venue.

The Armsby Monument, The Soldiers and Sailors Monument, The Burns Monument, and The Henry Johnson Monument are located in Washington Park.
